The Network Partners With Asthma Educators, Physician Assistants
McLEAN, VA, DEC. 10, 2013 – Allergy & Asthma Network, a leading patient education organization, is partnering with the Association of Asthma Educators (AAE) and the American Academy of Physician Assistants in Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (AAPA-AAI) as part of its endeavor to build the only multidisciplinary, patient-centered network of healthcare professionals focused on allergy and asthma care.
“Asthma educators and physician assistants offer a wealth of knowledge and expertise to help educate and advocate for patients with asthma and allergies,” says Tonya Winders, AANMA Chief Operating Officer. “We welcome the chance to work with these dedicated professionals who are on the front lines of asthma care, to share our resources with their patients and to champion quality health care.”
Since 1985, The Network has supported patients and families with a wide range of publications, resources, community outreach programs and advocacy efforts. Partnering with AAE and AAPA-AAI will reinforce the importance of education as part of a comprehensive allergy or asthma management plan and endorse the essential roles played by trained asthma educators and physician assistants. In addition, The Network will provide support on local and national advocacy and public policy issues.
“We are excited to collaborate with The Network and promote our common goal of providing asthma educational resources to patients and their families,” AAE said in a statement by co-Presidents Chanda Nicole Holsey and Catherine Kier. “By joining The Network, we share our knowledge and outreach.”
“Our partnership with The Network allows us to raise awareness of allergy and asthma by broadening our reach to patients, family members and caregivers,” says AAPA-AAI co-founder and Board of Directors member Gabriel Ortiz, MPAS, PA-C. “We are delighted to partner with this outstanding organization that continues to have such an impact on allergy and asthma care.”
