As a volunteer, you can serve in any of the following roles:
✓ Advocate
✓ Mission Ambassador
✓ Community Asthma and COPD Expert (CACE)
✓ Research (focus group participant, survey advisor, study advisor)
✓ Event volunteer
✓ Skills-based volunteer (writer, marketing, administrative, other)
You can make a positive difference in the quality of life and health for adults and children with asthma and allergies by volunteering in any of these roles.

How much time must you commit as a volunteer?

There is no minimum or maximum required for your time for most of these roles. We can help match a volunteer opportunity with the time you have to offer. We will try to give you an idea of the time commitment required for the specific type of volunteer opportunity in which you are interested.

Can you give me more information about available volunteer opportunities?

Patient Advocate

Patient advocates serve in an important role to help make changes that will improve policies and laws for people with asthma and allergies. As an advocate, you can do any of the following, and spend as much or little time as you have available. You can do what you wish from your home or you can choose to travel to speak with your legislators or attend events. Every bit helps!

  • Sharing your story in writing or in person. Sharing your lived experience about asthma or allergies is such an important thing you can do to help legislators understand the challenges people deal with and the opportunities they can take to make patient’s lives and health better.
  • Make phone calls, sign online petitions and send emails to your legislators.
  • Attend a local advocacy day at your state capitol when one is organized.
  • Attend our annual advocacy day, Allergy & Asthma Day Capitol Hill (AADCH).

We offer support and training to help make your patient advocacy efforts successful.
